Description
  • Deuterated chloroform is a dense organic solvent with the formula CDCl3. Due to its weak polarity, chloroform is able to dissolve a wide range of organic compounds, thus making it a widely used solvent in organic chemistry. It has low solubility in water but is often used in conjunction with deuterated methanol as a co-solvent.

The 1H-NMR spectrum of deuterated chloroform comprises of a singlet at 7.24 ppm (due to CHCl3) and a H2O/HDO resonance that generally appears at ~1.5 ppm. 13C-NMR spectrum gives rise to a 1:1:1 triplet at 77.26 ppm (vs. TMS).

Cambridge Isotope Laboratories (CIL) is pleased to offer highly enriched and highly pure deuterated chloroform for use with high-field, NMR spectroscopy These products are carefully manufactured and packaged so that the introduction of any impurity, including paramagnetic impurities, such as dissolved O2(g), into the product is minimized.

Two different enrichments are available and options that include added tetramethylsilane (TMS), to serve as a chemical shift reference, or added silver foil, to ensure chemical purity for overseas shipments.

All deuterated chloroform products should be stored between -5 and +5 degrees and away from light and moisture. These products are stable for 6 months from date of order if stored under these conditions. After 6 months, the solvent should be re-analyzed for chemical purity before use.
